Our Vision

With the last remaining old shops in Kowloon City district eventually disappearing due to modern development, we aim to preserve cultural heritage through shop visits and real life scanning, bringing our precious shops that have been serving our citizens over several decades into a digital experience to the audience. We worked with Mr Lam, the second generation owner of the dried seafood shop, to create a 3D model of his shop using photogrammetry and traditional modeling techniques. We also created a VR experience using Unreal Engine, allowing users to explore the shop in a virtual environment.

VR

The Meta Quest headset was used to develop the VR experience. Users can explore the shop by walking in physical space to simulate moving in the virtual environment and interact with the objects

Texturing

We used Adobe Substance Suite to recreate the tileable textures that can result in a higher level of detail but also lower the performance costs in the game engine
